Mastering
-
Mastering involves taking your song, and processing it as a whole rather than the individual pieces that make up the song. We do this to take care of things like overall volume, clarity, and consistency.
-
Yes. Mastering is the final line of defense for any technical issues or limitations your song may have. It also makes it compatible for different platforms (streaming, CD, vinyl.) The overall volume of your track can make or break it’s competitiveness and selection on a playlist or platform.
-
Much like our mixing process, things may be different project to project depending on if you recorded and mixed the track with us or are just sending us a final mix to then master. We will listen to the song before any work is done and discuss with you your goals for the master, where and when you are intending on releasing it, and what some of your inspirations for the project are!
-
Typically we want your final mix, with no limiters or major eq’s or compressors at the end of your chain. The format of .wav is preferred, and whatever sample rate the track is currently at we will keep it there. We may ask you for different versions of the song to help ensure the best quality master!

We have mastered tons and tons of tracks over the years. One thing we pride ourselves on is mastering each song or album in a way that serves the production and mix that you achieved. Our goal is always to retain the dynamics and details you spent countless hours crafting. Much like our mixing process, our mastering policy is free and endless revisions. Again, we just want to deliver you the product you hear, and not ruin your hard work!
